The new BMW M2 has been shown to the public and the car is fantastic. With the same size and measurements of the 2001-2006 BMW M3, this BMW M goes back to the basics of what BMW M cars should be like – small, light and great to drive on a track. While the current M lineup is powerful and fast, they all have gotten bigger in size.
The 2016 BMW M2 will come in 4 colors including the Long Beach Blue that you see here. Power will be coming from the familiar twin-turbo inline-6 engine but now producing 365 hp and close to 370 lb-ft of torque. This with the weight of 3,400 lbs will bring this car from 0-60 in just 4 seconds flat. Fast indeed. The car will be available with both DCT and 6-speed manuals and will carry the larger wheel, suspension seen on the next size BMW M3 and M4.
The BMW M2 will be the perfect car for the sport enthusiast who wants a daily driver and also take the car to the track on Sundays. While the M3/M4 use to be that car, it has gotten too big. The new BMW M2 will be available in the USA by 2nd quarter 2016.
